The group arrives at one of the world's
strangest airports; the
beach at Barra!
Washed by the tide twice a
day, Traigh Mhor beach is reputed to be the
only beach runway in the world to handle
scheduled airline services. From here we
will transfer to boats for the next
section of the tour. The two boats will take
us up the coasts of several islands landing
at Leverburgh, where we meet our
coach for the final leg of the journey.
Arriving at the hotel approx 9.30pm

 
The
day ends at
STORNOWAY on Lewis. Rightly known
as 'Stornoway's finest hotel' the
Cabarfeidh Hotel (pronounced cab-ar-fay)
is a luxurious three star hotel where you
can relax in comfort. What matters so much
more than bricks and mortar though is the
warmth of the welcome you'll receive, the Hebrides has a tradition of
hospitality. A late Dinner is included at
the hotel.


Today we board our coach
to visit the amazing Standing Stone Circles
at Calanish,
with a visit included to the visitor centre
and all three circles. On board with you now
will be a German speaking tour guide. Today
also includes a visit to
Dun Carloway Broch,
yet more ancient history! Plus a visit to
Gearrannan
Blackhouse
Village.
The afternoon sees
us at the most westerly Scotch whisky
distillery in the world;
ABHAINN DEARG.
A wonderful experience awaits you here,
with a guided tour by owner Mark. This is a
true down to earth distillery, imagine an
illegal still, well, it's not far away from
that! Lunch taken here. Tonight we will all go to the
town centre for a
PIPING evening; first held in
1994, taking place at the Caladh Inn
and is one of the top ranking bagpipe
contests in the world. It celebrates the
life and work of one of the greatest pipers
who ever lived, a fitting tribute to the
late Pipe Major Donald Macleod. Many of the
world's top pipers will hoping to capture
the main award.

Today we aim to coach
you to Tarbert on
Harris.
When we leave
Tarbert we will view the Scalpay
lighthouse, before heading for Lochmadday, North Uist,
we will take a packed lunch, taken aboard
the boat here.
to the Uist Outdoor Centre, with whom we
will be abseiling off the Maddy's,
near Lochmaddy, which has to be accessed by boat.
Training and instruction covering all
aspects of rock climbing and rope-work is
provided, we shall be here most of the day. Then
we return to Tarbert and coach back to the
hotel.

Tonight we will have kilts for everyone,
this will make our
Scottish Farewell Dinner very
memorable, at the hotel tonight.
The final half day of your tour, this
morning we head out to the Lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis. Here
we will enjoy a superb half day at the
lighthouse, enjoy Scottish food and
drinks delights in our Butt of Lewis
Picnic!
Return to Stornoway for the flight homeward.
We will need be at the airport approx 11.35
Departure flight at
13.10. Haste ye back!
